In October last year Apple launched the iPad 4G and iPad Mini and more recently in September this year they revealed the new iPhone 5S and colourful 5C models, now it’s the turn of the tablets again with Apple showcasing the iPad Air and new iPad Mini with Retina display.
Apple iPad Air and new iPad Mini 2013 Edition
Showcased during an event on Tuesday in Cupertino, California, we review what the Apple iPad Air and 2013 edition iPad Mini have to offer and when we can expect to see them on the shelves.
iPad Air Spec Features:
The Apple iPad Air with advanced technology is faster, lighter and more powerful than its predecessor and offers up an all new design.
Weighing less than 0.5 kg, the new iPad Air features Apple’s new A7 chip with 64-bit architecture and M7 motion coprocessor that the iPhone 5s showcased back in September, which means that this new tablet is twice as fast and and the graphics performance is twice as good as previous models that used the old A6 chip.
Delivering up to 10 hours of battery life despite the smaller battery size needed to accommodate its ultra thin 7.5 mm casing, the iPad Air uses advanced WiFi technology with 2 antennas providing super fast browsing speeds and with iOS 7 on board that takes full advantage of the 64-bit architecture, users can make the most of smarter multitasking, a new Control Centre feature and AirDrop that lets you share photo’s, video’s, websites and more.
New iPad Air
The 9.7 inch LED backlit Multi‑Touch display with IPS technology offers up a screen resolution of 2048 x 1536 p at 264 ppi (pixels per inch) and the iPad Air sports a 5 mega pixel iSight camera with five-element lens which is supported by HD video capture and a more than capable 1.2 mega pixel 720p HD FaceTime camera, ideal for video and Skype calling.

With a choice of finish in either Silver or Space Grey, the iPad Air will be available to order with 16,32,64 or 128 GB of built-in memory from the 1st of November carrying a price tag of £499, £579, £659 and £739 respectively for the WiFi + Cellular model and £399, £479, £559 and £639 respectively for the WiFi only model.
iPad Mini with Retina Display Spec Features:
The Apple iPad Mini 2 features a stunning 7.9 inch Retina display with pixel resolution of 2048 x 1536 p but much higher pixel density of 326 ppi. Boasting the same powerful A7 chip as the iPad Air, the new iPad Mini doesn’t sacrifice on battery performance but instead delivers a superior performance.
With access to over 475,000 apps in the App Store the iPad Mini is always ready to work or play. Equipped with advanced WiFi technology users can make the most of new iOS 7 features and keep up to date and in touch whenever and wherever you are. With the same colour options as the Apple iPad Air, iPad Mini fans will have to wait until later on in November before they can get their hands on the new 7.9″ mini tablet but the 16,32,64 or 128 GB versions will set you back considerably less than it would cost to buy the 9.7″ version. £319, £399, £479 or £559 respectively for the WiFi only model and £419, £499, £579 and £659 for the WiFi + Cellular model.
